After spending more than £600million, Chelsea’s summer purge continues with departure of Hakim Ziyech to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr

It has not yet been a fortnight since the transfer window opened and there are already glimpses that we are up for another scintillating summer of speculation and tantalizing drama. Chelsea despite having the worst-ever finish to their Premier League campaign is ready to make amends with the Argentine Mauricio Pochettino at the helm. Under the frenzy of transfers, the Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech is the latest one to depart from Stanford Bridge.

The Saudi Pro League came into the limelight when Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nassar after leaving Manchester United on uncordial terms. The likes of Karim Benzema, N’ Golo Kante and now Hakim Ziyech have followed the Portuguese Magnifico’s footsteps.

The Moroccan Winger who had one of his best footballing days when his national team shattered CR7’s dreams to win the quarterfinals of the World Cup is all set to join him in the Saudi Pro League.

One of the renowned football transfers journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Hakim Ziyech has reached an agreement to join the Saudi club Al-Nassr. He also mentioned that the agreement has been reached with his parent club Chelsea for the sale.

The Chelsea winger had an underwhelming season for his London-based club, Chelsea despite contributing massively to his national team’s heroics at the World Cup. The Moroccan international played a total of 24 matches in all competitions, not finding the net even once and providing 3 assists.

Chelsea GK Edouard Mendy agrees personal terms to move to Al Ahli

Following his teammate’s footsteps, Chelsea’s goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has decided to part ways with his club and join another Saudi club Al Ahli. The 2020/21 UEFA Champions League goalkeeper of the year found himself displaced between the goal, making way for Spanish International, Kepa Arrizabalaga. This led the Senegalese goalkeeper to play a total of 12 matches all season in a Chelsea shirt by keeping just 1 clean sheet.

The reports suggest that Edouard Mendy might be the latest one from the Premier League to make his journey to the Gulf nation. There are also concrete rumours stating the departure of another Chelsea and Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly, who is reportedly set to join the Saudi club, Al Hilal.

Romano reported that the Senegalese centre-half has agreed on personal terms with the club on a three-year contract, they will be joining one of their other Premier League signings, Ruben Neves.

Among the contingent of players joining the Saudi clubs, the Chelsea players are at the forefront. Some of the other players that might leave Stanford Bridge are Mason Mount, who is linked to Manchester United, Kai Havertz, who has gathered attention from their London rivals Arsenal and Mateo Kovacic who is set to join the English champions Manchester City.

Emerging from a season fraught with frustration and heartbreaks, Chelsea fans hope to forget the past and be excited about the future. There are huge question marks on many Chelsea players and from the outside it seems, Mauricio Pochettino is orchestrating a huge overhaul.
