Al-Feiha brutally mocks Cristiano Ronaldo with edited Lionel Messi photo after draw vs Al Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo has been brutally mocked by Saudi club Al Feiha after they had a goalless draw with Al Nassr. The post has since gained traction in social media.

Al-Feiha made fun of Cristiano Ronaldo by referring to a famous Louis Vuitton promotion in which he appeared alongside Lionel Messi before the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

How was the Portuguese forward mocked?

On the top of the case in which the trophy for the World Cup was to be stored, the two were shown playing chess over the brand’s signature checkered pattern. The advertisement received international attention, which was not surprising given that it was shared on the Instagram pages of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Luis Vuitton.

Al-Feiha has now made a sly reference to that advertising in a tweet slandering Ronaldo. The Portuguese legend was ineffectual against Al-Feiha on Sunday, as his Al Nassr squad was held scoreless in the league.

Ronaldo stormed off the field, taking off his captain’s armband in despair, as his team’s title hopes were dashed. Al-Nassr now has 53 points from 23 league games, three fewer than leaders Al-Ittihad, who beat Al-Wehda 2-1 the next day.

The opposition Saudi club was quick to mock the forward in a post on their official Twitter account. Al-Feiha’s tweet, which can be seen above, shows club captain Sami Al-Khaibari seated alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in Lionel Messi’s place. The caption read ‘Checkmate’. As the article is being written, the post has received 2.9 million views.

Many fans saw the funny side of it and appreciated the good banter. But fans of the Portuguese forward were quick to harshly point out Ronaldo’s significance and defended him.

Cristiano Ronaldo so far with Al Nassr

Manchester United parted ways with Cristiano Ronaldo in November 2021. This happened after the Portuguese gave an explosive interview with Piers Morgan regarding the club’s management. After no interest from any top European clubs, he then joined Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr in January. He was offered a contract that made him the world’s best-paid player.

Cristiano Ronaldo was named February’s Saudi Pro League Player of the Month after scoring eight goals and assisting twice. Cristiano Ronaldo has 11 goals in nine Saudi Pro League appearances with Al Nassr FC. In total, he has 11 goals in 11 games for the Riyadh-based squad.

Since his arrival in Riyadh, he has significantly increased the league’s popularity. If Ronaldo does not win the league title, his time in Saudi Arabia will be considered a failure, and already many see the former Manchester United forward’s decision to quit European football and join Al-Nassr as a step back.

Ronaldo and Al Nassr next faces city rivals Al Hilal on Wednesday.
