Barcelona to establish Lionel Messi museum near Camp Nou to raise finances for PSG star summer move

Barcelona is apparently planning to build a dedicated museum for Lionel Messi to earn transfer cash in the latest attempt to get the Argentine back to the club.

Messi has decided to quit PSG this summer, according to French outlet Foot Mercato (via PSG Talk). According to reports, Messi and his family have decided to leave the French city. They are unlikely to change their views. Their preferred club is thought to be Barcelona and the player himself decided it after Barcelona contacted him.

While Messi might have a few other European teams fighting for his signature, the way back to Barcelona is not fully apparent, considering the club’s fragile financial status.

Following reports that La Liga president Javier Tebas was waiting for a “feasibility plan” to bring Messi back, Spanish media AS has disclosed how the money may be obtained. There are plans in the works to turn the former offices of the legendary youth academy, La Masia, which is located close to Camp Nou, into a museum devoted to their Argentine hero. Talks with Telefónica, the Spanish telecommunications company, are said to have already commenced.

The ‘Messi Space’, which is what it will be called, could become a world leader in cutting-edge technology.

The idea is that the “interactive and immersive center” would draw thousands of tourists and supporters. This will provide a constant income to fund the signing of the PSG star. If these numbers fall within Tebas’ newly specified restrictions, the La Liga president would almost certainly allow the deal given the clear commercial money – specifically in TV rights – that the Argentine superstar offers to the league. The museum would also touch the Argentine’s heart considering the betrayal he must have felt when he had left the club in 2021.
