Bayern continue tradition of nabbing Borussia Dortmund’s best players, Raphael Guerreiro joins on free transfer

Bayern Munich had a habit of stealing troops from Dortmund. The club continues this tradition by signing another major star from them. Stealing and hijacking players is not a new story in soccer but nobody graduate in doing so like Bayern Munich. 

The club where they mostly stole troops are Dortmund. The German champions had signed many star players from Dortmund and broken their home.

This home-breaking strategy of Bayern on Dortmund continues as they are looking to sign another outstanding player of them.

Top 3 players Bayern have signed from Borussia Dortmund?

As Bayern are always ready to break the home of their bitter rivals they again are in the hunt to continue to do so. Some great players were signed by Bayern from Dortmund in past.

While the top three of them are Polish maestro Robert Lewandowski, Mario Götze and Mats Hummels. 

All these three players started playing for Dortmund at a very young age but later they ended up playing for their bitter rivals.

#1 Robert Lewandowski 

Robert Lewandowski the Polish legend join Dortmund in 2010.

He spent four years of his career with Dortmund where he scored 103 goals by playing 187 matches. At that time he won two Bundesliga and one DFB Pokal cup with the Black and Yellow. 

Lewa also witnessed a heartbreaking defeat in the all-German final of the Champions League 2012/2013 season with Dortmund. Later he joined Bayern in 2014 on a free transfer and he made 357 appearances along with scoring 344 goals for the German giants.

#2 Mario Gotze

Another German star who joined Bayern from Dortmund is Mario Gotze. He is that player who broke millions of Argentine fans’ hearts by scoring the extra-time winner for Germany in the 2014 World Cup.

Gotze joined Dortmund in 2009 and played four years of his career there. He played 83 matches for the club and scored 22 goals, before leaving for Bayern in 2013. 

Super Mario was one of the best troops for Black and Yellow. He won two Bundesliga titles and one DFB cup with the club.

#3 Mats Hummels

The star German defender Mats Hummels played for both these clubs. He was the youth product of Bayern. Instead of being a youth product of Bayern, he had made just a single senior team appearance for the club.

He was then loaned to Dortmund in 2008 and later he signed a senior team contract with the club.

The defender made 225 appearances for the club and turned out to be a stand-out performer for them. He also managed to score 13 goals and win two Bundesliga titles and one DFB cup for Dortmund.

After returning to his childhood club Bayern in the summer of 2016, Matt Hummels made yet another comeback to Dortmund in 2019 and has since remained with the club, continuing to play for them.

Ramy Bensebaini to replace Raphael Guerreiro at Borussia Dortmund?

Bayern Munich continues to break home of Dortmund as they signed their left back in the 2023 summer transfer window. Raphael Guerreiro is set to join Bayern on a three-year contract deal. 

As the deal is officially done by the teams Dortmund is in the hunt to sign a new left-back for them and they find Ramy Bensebaini as a perfect replacement for the Portuguese international.

Ramy joined the club earlier this month on a four-year deal on a free transfer. However, the Algerian have to battle with Julian Ryerson to secure his place in the playing 11.
