Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, was dealt an unexpected blow last weekend; a severe ankle sprain that seemed like it would take him out of the divisional game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
As the stakes were high, Mahomes returned to the field in the second half and, against all odds, led his team to victory.
The news of Mahomes’ injury sent shockwaves throughout the NFL community, and many were concerned about the star QB’s health and status for the upcoming AFC Championship game.
His trainer, Bobby Stroupe, put these worries to rest with an amusing yet informative update in the form of a fake x–ray of a dog. The post, which is a reference to Mahomes’ ability to ‘grind it out’, has become a running joke among the Chiefs fanbase.

Mahomes himself has been vocal about his condition, stating on Friday that his ankle was ‘sore’ but he was doing everything he could to make sure he was ready for Sunday.
He declared that he felt better than expected after the game, and the subsequent rest and icing had improved his condition steadily throughout the week.
The Chiefs are set to take on the Cincinnati Bengals, the No. 3 seed in the AFC, in the championship game. The Bengals, under the guidance of Joe Burrow, have owned the Chiefs in their three meetings since Burrow’s draft.
During this time, Burrow has thrown for an impressive 982 yards, 8 touchdowns, and just one interception. This display of dominance has caused many to consider the possibility of Burrow being a serious threat to Mahomes’ crown as the best QB in the league.
Mahomes and the Chiefs are hoping to turn the tide and prove they are the team to beat. This Sunday, the star QB will have to bring his A–game and show the world why he is the reigning Super Bowl MVP.
