Cincinnati Bengals lock in Ja’Marr Chase through 2025 Season

The Cincinnati Bengals have made a major but obvious move today. The team has decided to stick with Ja’Marr Chase for another season after re-signing QB Jake Browning.

The Bengals announced on Wednesday that they have exercised Ja’Marr Chase’s fifth-year option. The WR will be under contract with the team through the 2025 season.

After this new extension, Ja’Marr Chase will make $21.9 million guaranteed for another year before his rookie contract ends.

Chase, who wasn’t impressed by Patrick Mahomes was eligible for a contract extension and could have signed a multi-year extension with the team. However, the Bengals opted for the fifth-year option, which means there will be no urgency for contract extension now.

Depending on how well things work out between the WR and the team, they might consider signing a multi-year contract. Considering the exceptional stats of Ja’Marr Chase, the team will try their best to retain him for a long time.

Ja’Marr Chase Exceptional Career Stats

Drafted 5th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, Ja’Marr Chase played alongside Joe Burrow, his college quarterback. He caught 81 passes for 1,455 yards with 13 touchdowns and helped the Cincinnati Bengals reach Super Bowl LVI.

Despite missing five games due to injury, the WR caught 87 passes for 1,046 yards with nine touchdowns in the 2022 season. He then had new career-high receptions (100) last season with 1,216 yards.

Overall, during his career with the Bengals, the WR caught 268 passes for 3,717 yards and 29 touchdowns. Chase, who made a bold prediction about Joe Burrow holds the Bengals’ postseason career records for receptions (45) and receiving yards (588).

The WR also tied for the second-most receptions in a single season in the Bengals’ history with 100 catches in 2023. Ja’Marr Chase is one of only eight players in NFL history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in his first three career seasons.

The exceptional performance of Ja’Marr Chase has made him one of the best wide receivers in the NFL and one of the most valuable players for the Bengals.
