Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb sets high goals beyond being the No. 1 WR in Dallas: “It’s really all about coming in, showing my worth”

From the retired NFL GOAT Tom Brady to Patrick Mahomes, many NFL players favored their team over personal financial gains while showcasing an incredible commitment to the evaluation of their respective franchises. The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb seems to belong to that elite club.

After starting his NFL career, Lamb quickly established himself as one of the most elite players in the league and recorded a team-leading total with 107 catches, nine receiving touchdowns as well as 1,359 receiving yards in 2022.

CeeDee started his national football career after getting picked by Dallas with the 17th overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft as a No.2 WR behind Amari Cooper and climbed to the position of Cooper last season after accomplishing a fantastic season in 2021, leading the team receptions and receiving yards.

The veteran wide receiver has two years remaining on his rookie contract as he enters his fourth year in the NFL and Dallas picked up his fifth-year option.

However, the All-Pro receiver is probably more aimed at displaying his ability to excel in high-pressure situations and making clutch plays than worrying about the extensions, hence, he left the duty to his agents Tory Dandy and Jimmy Sexton of CAA Sports.

“That’s for my agent. I’m trying to play. That’s what I’m here to do and that’s what I love to do,” said CeeDee.

Lamb’s goal ahead of the 2023 NFL season

The Cowboys veteran WR revealed the ongoing discussion of contract extension will not be able to distract him from his mindset,

“Quite honestly — I’ll be 100 percent honest — I’m not even distracted.”

Miami Dolphins Tyreek Hill earns $30 million APY and the Las Vegas Raiders’ Davante Adams takes home $28 million APY. Now the question arises whether Dallas will think something big like this for their No.1 WR, however, Ceedee himself revealed more than money, he is focused on continuing on an upward trajectory,

“The money, definitely worried about it, but it’s not something that’s on my mind every day or when I come to the building. I’m not thinking about how much money I’m gonna make if I do this. It’s really all about coming in, showing my worth, and letting everything else handle itself.”

Besides improving individual performance, the 24-year-old is also focused on taking on a bigger leadership role alongside quarterback Dak Prescott and making his team a formidable force in the league by throwing tough competitions for the rivals under the guidance of head coach Mike McCarthy.

“Being a better leader, whether that’s for my position group or for my team. Obviously being the one that can be counted on when the game is on the line. I’ve always had help, but it’s instilled now. Then at the point of attack, we’re gonna come at you, we’re gonna be aggressive. We’ll do the best versus the best and let the best man win,” he added.

Do you think Dallas should offer a whopping extension to Lamb like Tyreek?
