Cristiano Ronaldo effect: Al Nassr gained record-breaking followers on social media just after signing former Manchester United, Real Madrid legend

Cristiano Ronaldo is too much more than just a star. Though he is having quite some tough times recently, the sensation has been larger than life phenomenon for a super lengthy period of time. For more than two decades now he has stayed at the top and been a matter to talk about wherever he has been.

Whenever may the CR7 steps outside, he never misses a chance to illuminate that space. This so happened when he joined Juventus and Manchester United after leaving Real Madrid. Those two clubs witnessed a surge in terms of followers on Instagram. After CR7’s joining the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, not only Cristiano Ronaldo’s soccer career has entered its next stage, but also the club is now among the most talked about.

Ronaldo put pen to paper on a lucrative contract until June 2025 on Friday when the former Manchester United man will bag around $200 million when the contract finishes. He didn’t stop there only making history by withdrawing the highest salaries of all time, but more people are now being totally aware of the club he is joining, a history that only Ronaldo repeats.

It is hardly any surprise that Al Nassr, who is currently second in the Saudi Pro League, allocated the no. 7 shirts to the 37-year-old Portuguese.

The prominence of Ronaldo, the image of football, who has 526 million Instagram followers, has had a significant impact on Al Nassr’s social media accounts as their followers’ numbers have grown quickly since he joined.

Notably, Ronaldo followed his new team on Instagram. The Saudi Arabian Club had approximately 826K followers prior to the superstar’s signing, which is growing at an explosive rate. When reported, the follower number has reached as high as 5.6 million, and it will undoubtedly continue to grow. Which is about to hit the double figures in millions.

Earlier, Al Nassr was over the moon with the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo and said, “This is more than history in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation, and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves.”

Ronaldo was unsettled during the past two months as his future remained in the cast of darkness, but with the mega-deal, he is happy and believed it was the right time to move to another continent.

“I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia”- Ronaldo said.

In November, his agreement to continue with his former team Manchester United was mutually terminated. However, according to transfer regulations, he must still hold off on playing for another team until the beginning of the January window.

Ronaldo will therefore be unable to participate in Saturday’s Saudi Pro League match against Khaleej FC, and it is widely believed that he will make his debut on January 5 at home against Al-Ta’ee.
