Dalvin Cook discloses Jets interest with recent social media interaction aiming to end 53 years NFL drought

The former Minnesota Vikings veteran running back Dalvin Cook has been one of the best running backs in the NFL since he took entry into the league after getting drafted by the franchise as the 41st overall pick in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Minnesota decided to end their chapter with Cook on June 9 after some failed attempts to find an adequate trade package for him and the free agent RB has set the NFL world abuzz with a recent social media interaction hinting at a potential interest in joining the New York Jets.

Gang Green’s interest in Cook is still a question mark, albeit the four-time Pro Bowler is not shying away from expressing his interest to get enrolled in the Jets’ roster as he liked several tweets mentioning him and the franchise following his departure from the Vikings.

ESPN’s Mike Greenberg earlier said New York should make a move to sign both Dalvin and veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The ex-Vikings star quote-tweeted the video saying the analyst was “smart” for his words.

Jets star running back Breece Hall showcased incredible athleticism in 2022 before getting plagued by injuries and it is still not sure if he will be fully healthy for the first week. Though Hill’s recovery from ACL injury is still ongoing, the team’s coach Robert Saleh might consider Cook to pair up with Breece in an aim to get one of the best running back duos in the league.

Jets in 53 years NFL drought with Cook expressing the desire to lift the Lombardi

The New York Jets, a team that has been struggling over decades to achieve success on the field, haven’t won a Super Bowl since their historic victory in Super Bowl III back in 1969 and are desperately searching for the right pieces to turn their fortunes around. The former Minnesota star could be that missing puzzle for the Jets to emulate as the league winner.

During a recent appearance on The Adam Schefter Podcast, the 27-year-old RB expressed his eagerness to end up in a team where he could bring them the long-waited Lombardi trophy for which they have been craving for a long time, however, he revealed leaving the monetary negotiation part of the deal to his agent,

“I’m looking for that value of Dalvin Cook. If I walk into a situation, it’s going to be a situation where I can help somebody go take that next step of trying to go get that Lombardi Trophy. That’s all I’ve got my mind on. The money part is going to come,” he said.

“That’s my agent’s part. Me, Dalvin Cook, I’m looking for somebody that’s ready to go win. I can be the piece to go help somebody to turn the page of go win and turn the franchise to go get a Lombardi Trophy. That’s all I want. I want to hold that trophy up, kiss it one time. That’s all I’m looking for right now,” he continued.

Dalvin believes in focusing on his goal to display athleticism on the field with an aim to be a Super Bowl contender,

“My production on the field is all I can control. My agent, he does the best job in the world to get me in the best [position] I can be in. That’s his job. My job is to produce and be me. That’s all I can do right now. I’m sitting in the position right now where I’m so comfortable to make a decision. I just want to go contend for a Super Bowl right now.”

Regardless of whether Dalvin’s interest in the Jets materializes into an actual signing, Big Apple’s fans are eager to witness their team break free from the chains of mediocrity and bring an end to the prolonged championship drought.
