David De Gea rumored to reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr in Saudi Pro League after Man Utd contract expired

After his contract with Manchester United has expired, David De Gea could now reunite with ex-teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr. The Spanish goalkeeper could be the latest player to leave Europe for the Saudi Pro League. This comes after his contract ended on June 30, and the club is yet to offer him a new one.

Even though he won the Golden Glove this season, United is looking to replace him with another candidate as the starting goalkeeper. His on-the-ball ability and his tendency to make big mistakes likely led to the decision, but they were still looking to keep him as a backup keeper. It is now expected that the club will bid for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

However, the Red Devils reportedly asked De Gea not to sign anywhere. This is so that if they fail to bring in a replacement this window, they could continue with De Gea for next season.

Al-Nassr contract details for David De Gea

According to The Sun, Saudi club Al Nassr is now looking to bring in De Gea should he decide to leave United.

The Saudi club has reportedly offered the 32-year-old a weekly £250,000 offer to goalkeeper. This is less than the £375,000 salary he received in his previous contract at United. Though there may be other variables offered in the deal. United themselves are expected to offer an even lower salary than this as they face financial issues.

Going to Al Nassr will have another benefit for the player. He can share the pitch again with previous Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. The two played together when Ronaldo enjoyed his second stint there.

Ronaldo left United for free in January, after disagreements over playing time and a controversial interview with Piers Morgan. He then joined Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, where he has performed well. Al Nassr is also close to bringing in Marcelo Brozović from Inter Milan and Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea.

David De Gea’s achievements with Man Utd

David De Gea first joined United in 2011 from Atletico Madrid. Since then, he has been a loyal steward of the club for 12 years. In that time, he has amassed 545 appearances for the club in all competitions. He has kept a clean sheet in 190 of those games.

De Gea won his first Golden Glove this season as he made 17 clean sheets to ensure United qualify for the Champions League. He also helped United win the Carabao Cup this season.

The Spaniard is also the club’s last-ever Premier League winner, being a part of the last United team to win it in 2013. He has also won three Community Shields, two Carabao Cups, and an FA Cup. In Europe, he has won the Europa League in 2017.

United looks set to offer their contract to De Gea in the coming days, and the keeper also seems keen to stay. But should he leave the club, Cristiano Ronaldo will likely be waiting for him in the Saudi desert.
