Devin Haney, one of the superstars of boxing, has taken over the sport in a relatively short timespan and is only elevating, having already become a big name. He remains undefeated, having held multiple championships in two weight divisions, including the undisputed lightweight championship, and is currently ranked as the world’s best active lightweight.
In the face of his mega clash with fellow boxing star Ryan Garcia on April 20th, both sides are leaving no stones unturned in terms of going at each other personally, way before they step into that ring, leading to controversies and beef.
Devin Haney lashes out at Floyd Mayweather
The recently held press conference of Haney and Garcia in the lead-up to their fight was filled with chaos, featuring moments where it got really heated between the two. However, the premium highlight of the conference is when Garcia reveals how he obtained footage of a 17-year-old Haney getting schooled by Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis in Floyd Mayweather’s gym way back in the years. And he claims to have received that footage firsthand from Mayweather himself, only adding more fuel to the situation.
Although Haney was only a young kid at the time, this footage still does harm to the boxer as he appears to be dominated in the footage, leading critics to have a field day with it and throw all sorts of shots at Haney, who did not respond kindly to what happened.
He recently went online and clapped back at Mayweather for allegedly leaking the footage, calling him a “bonafide hater.” Haney has even gone so far as to openly accuse Mayweather of sabotaging his fight against Garcia by attacking his credibility as a fighter through leaked footage.

This whole situation was supposedly set off by Bill Haney, Devin’s father, who recently made a huge claim of his son being one of the primary reasons behind Mayweather’s retirement. He was bragging about how Devin apparently dominated Floyd in sparring before the latter’s super fight with Conor Mcgregor in 2017, and that was the reason why Floyd decided to hang up the gloves.
Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, being the heel he’s been known for, was expected by fans all over the world to somehow clap back at the shade thrown towards him by Bill, and his reply might have been the leaked footage.
This impromptu beef between Mayweather and Haney seems to have only begun, and is expected to take on further heated turns, catching more eyeballs and ultimately increasing the hype for Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20th.
