Eagles OT Jordan Mailata explains why Jason Kelce won’t play in 2024-25 NFL season

Jason Kelce has recently received a lot of attention because of his unusual antics to support his brother Travis Kelce in the playoff games and in Las Vegas.

However, another looming question is the future of the Philadelphia Eagles center in the NFL. Reports were emerging that Jason might not get retired this season but one player thinks there is no chance he will play again.

Jordan Mailata explains why Jason Kelce may retire before next season

Jordan Mailata, the OT of the Philadelphia Eagles, recently discussed the situation surrounding the retirement of Jason Kelce. Reportedly, Jason told his fellow players that he wouldn’t play in the next season; however, later he claimed that watching his brother win another Super Bowl was compelling him to play one more season.

Amid this confusing situation, Jordan Mailata shared his insights on why the 36-year-old will not play in the upcoming season.

“There’s no shot,” Mailata told NBC Sports Philadelphia.

He made fun of Jason’s recent antics at his brother’s game and emphasized that he doesn’t think Jason will leave all that fun and play again.

“You’re telling me he’s going shirts off in the games, gambling in the casinos, he’s coming back? No way. He’s having too much fun. He’s out there living his life.”

Mailata also added that he will miss Jason Kelce on the team as they shared a special bond, but the chances of him playing again are very low.

“And I’m going to miss him for sure, man. This has been the greatest six years of my life for sure, being here in the NFL and getting to meet people like Jason Kelce.”

It is important to note that Jason Kelce has not yet confirmed anything about his retirement. But recently, rumors emerged that he also met with ESPN, FOX, and Amazon for potential broadcasting deals.

Jason Kelce to announce his retirement decision within weeks

Jason Kelce is said to be close to making his retirement choice official. His retirement has been the subject of contradictory stories ever since his last game with the Eagles. However, he will need to make a definitive choice over the next several weeks.

Despite other players talking about his retirement plans, the 36-year-old remained tight-lipped about it. During ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq’ when Shaquille O’Neal asked him about his retirement plans, Jason simply stated, “Still figuring it out.”

He is still indecisive about whether he wants to play in the NFL or not, and he clarified that he will make a final decision in the next couple of weeks.

“I think if I still want to play, I’m going to play. I think right now we’re not far enough away from the last game. It’s emotional, it’s a long season, the end of the season quite frankly, awful. So I’m just going to take some time, rest, recoup and then figure it out. I think I’ll have an answer in the next couple weeks.”
