Eagles WR A.J. Brown fined $10K by NFL for taunting Pittsburgh Steelers defenders

Eagles WR A.J. Brown is under a good radar as he became the first player with 100 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns in the first half of a game since Tampa Bay’s Mike Evans. He is just the third receiver since 2006, when ESPN began tracking air yards, to have three receiving touchdowns of 20-plus air yards in a single game. Brown’s 718 receiving yards rank fifth in the NFL. Everything was working fine for Brown except that he was fined $10,609 by the NFL for taunting Pittsburgh Steelers defenders in the Philadelphia Eagles Week 8 win.

Brown was flagged after saying, “One, two [defenders], that’s not enough,” pointing to each of them, following his third touchdown of the day, a 29-yard touchdown throw from quarterback Jalen Hurts in the right corner of the end zone with Minkah Fitzpatrick and corner Ahkello Witherspoon sandwiching him.

That was his third touchdown of the match; his first came at the conclusion of the first quarter when Brown caught a pass that appeared to be headed for an interception. Early in the second quarter, he followed that up with another one, this time also hurting Witherspoon and Fitzpatrick.

The 25-year-old star took to social media and made fun of the entire incident saying, “My two little finger points the other day cost me 5k a piece.” Now fans are pointing fingers at NFL for ruining the fun with absurd rules. They went ahead to claim that NFL stands for “No Fun League.”

It was otherwise an epic for Brown, as he finished with six catches on 10 targets for 156 yards and three touchdowns. Brown is the first Eagles player in 53 years with 3 touchdowns of 25 yards or more in a game.
