Eddie Hearn sheds light on Jermell Charlo’s challenge to Canelo Alvarez: “The priority at the moment is to make the Dmitry Bivol rematch”

After Canelo Alvarez defeated John Ryder via unanimous decision in his comeback fight last week, the undisputed super middleweight champion called out Dmitry Bivol for a rematch. However, several other big names seem to be in contention for a fight with Alvarez next.

Canelo Alvarez

David Benavidez is the one opponent that fans want to see Canelo fight and the other fighter who is linked to the Mexican boxer is Jermell Charlo. The American boxer who is a junior middleweight champion has shown interest in fighting Canelo and has called him out on Twitter recently.

Consequently, Alvarez’s promoter Eddie Hearn was questioned in one of the interviews whether they will book a fight between Canelo and Charlo next. The British promoter denied all the rumors and confirmed that they are trying their best to book a rematch between Saul and Bivol.

Not only is Eddie Hearn disinterested in booking a fight between Canelo and Charlo but even Saul Alvarez is not too keen in this matchup. The Mexican boxer wants vengeance and believes that he can easily beat Bivol and add another belt to his resume. Besides, this fight is tough to make for the commission and it does not add more credibility to Canelo’s resume as Charlo is a junior middleweight.

Canelo Alvarez wants to fight Dmitry Bivol in September

As every day passes by, the rumors for a rematch between Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol is getting intensified. The Mexican boxer and his promoter have confirmed that the Ukrainian light heavyweight champion is the fight they want next. A few weeks before his fight against John Ryder, Saul indicated that he would like to face Bivol in September.

This seems ideal for all parties as Canelo can fight again in December against a big name like David Benavidez and if Bivol wins then he can pursue bigger goals and establish his name as one of the best boxers in the world. The rematch will be much bigger and it is needless to say that fight fans will be excited.
