Following Max Verstappen’s victory Red Bull reach 100 GP wins landmark in F1, revealing the top 5 constructors list with most GP wins

With the Canadian Grand Prix coming to an end, Red Bulls’ leading man Max Verstappen extends his lead in the Drivers’ Championship over stablemate Sergio Perez. The Dutchman comfortably led the race from lap 1 after a superb start over Aston Martin driver, Fernando Alonso.

The most eventful moment for the reigning world champion was when he accidentally drove over a kerb however, the result of which was just a playful radio message to his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambaise informing him of the near miss. At the chequered flag, Max took his 41st career win and set a Red Bull milestone.

This Sunday, Oracle Red Bull Racing became the 5th constructor to score a century of wins in the history of the sport, with Max Verstappen’s 6th victory this season the Dutch driver has drawn level with the legendary Aryton Senna attaining 41 race wins under his belt.

The team has also held their record of winning every race this season and while Red Bull celebrated their landmark victory, it was not a perfect day for the Milton Keynes-based team.

Mexican driver, Sergio Perez did not have a fruitful day at the office this weekend after he qualified P12 on Saturday and failed to grab a podium finish for a 3rd consecutive race, finishing an upsetting P6 in the race.

It seems the team is once again facing issues finding a consistent secondary driver to pair up with Max Verstappen, this issue has led the team to drop multiple drivers in previous seasons. In 2019 the team dropped French driver, Pierre Gasly favoring rookie Alex Albon however, at the end of the 2020 season Alex Albon was replaced by Sergio Perez.

Regardless of the undesired result from Perez, Red Bull has managed to become the 5th team to win 100 races. Another team to have achieved this milestone are Ferrari who have scored 242 race wins after being in the sport for 73 years, with their first race win in the 1951 British Grand Prix.

McLaren is next with 183 race wins after 57 years in the sport, the team’s first win was in the 1968 Belgian Grand Prix when driver Bruce McLaren won the 28-lap race after starting P6. Their last win was when Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris crossed the line for a McLaren 1-2 at Monza in the 2021 Italian Grand Prix.

Mercedes come third with 125 race wins in their 14-year history in the sport, the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio took the first win for the team in the 1954 French Grand Prix in the 8th season of Formula 1. George Russell was the last driver to win for the German team in the 2022 São Paulo Grand Prix, it was the 25-year-old’s maiden victory in the sport.

The final team is Williams, the team has 114 race wins over their 45-year career in the sport, and driver Clay Regazzoni won the first race for the team at the 1979 British Grand Prix. The team’s last win was at the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix when Venezuelan driver, Pastor Maldonado won the 66-lap race starting P1 on the grid.

There is no doubt that Red Bull Racing is here to dominate the sport, in their 18-year history they have had some of the best drivers. Winning 5 Constructors’ titles, 6 Drivers’ titles, and now 100 race wins.
