Former Vikings star Adam Thielen reveals he explored options with multiple teams before choosing Panthers as it “felt like the best fit”

After being released by the Vikings, Adam Thielen has finally found a home with the Panthers during this free-agent period. Speculation has been floating in the air regarding this former Vikings player, whether his future will be tied with the Vikings again or he is moving to a different destination; nevertheless, all rumors have been cleared.

Vikings Rumors: 'Fresh start' for Adam Thielen in 2023 would not be surprising

Thielen, who is entering his 32nd season after joining the team as an undrafted rookie in 2013, was ranked #80 by his teammates on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2021. Adam has spent his entire professional career in Minnesota, where he has made two Pro Bowls, surpassed 1,200 yards receiving both years, and grabbed 13 touchdowns on 204 receptions in 32 games.

Adam is the first player in NFL history to have 8 consecutive games of 100+ receiving yards to begin a season, and he was the very first Viking to own consecutive seasons of 1,000+ receiving yards in 2017-18 since Randy Moss did so for 6 consecutive seasons.

In 2018, he recorded the third-highest total in franchise history with 113 receptions for 1,373 yards and nine touchdowns.

Will the Panthers be led by Adam Thielen in the next season?

Thielens’s future with the Panthers cannot be assumed, since the wide receiver previously claimed that he was researching teams to find the best fit for him. This wide receiver met with the Panthers in Charlotte last week as he began his free-agency search.

Adam had negotiations with the Vikings about modifying his deal to lessen his $19.97 million cap hit in 2023 since he may have wanted to play with his previous team. Yet before he was let go, the two sides were unable to come to an agreement.

The wide receiver said to ESPN in February that he planned to play his final game with the Vikings, and also expressed his desire to play at a high level as he did earlier.

According to ESPN, the Panthers announced Sunday they reached a deal with Thielen for three years, but the Panthers’ release did not disclose specific contract details.

In Pat McAfee’s show, Thielen declared he is going to sign with the Panthers for this upcoming season.

The Panthers have been linked to DJ Chark as well as Thielen, with the other wideouts on the roster being Terrace Marshall Jr., Laviska Shenault Jr., Preston Williams, Derek Wright, Shi Smith, and C.J. Saunders.
