“Have Liverpool not been playing this year?” Specsavers brutally roasts Liverpool after Premier League’s Marcus Rashford golden boot post

Liverpool’s miseries do not seem to end this season. They have been poor in form all season. To add insult to injury, Liverpool has now been roasted by Specsavers’ official Twitter account.

Liverpool sits 10th in the Premier League with little prospect of making European football next season. They were recently beaten 3-0 by Wolverhampton Wolves and are yet to win a league game this year. Specsavers’ Twitter account is known for making regular roasts on football things and this time Liverpool, was the target.

Manchester United, Liverpool’s biggest rivals, has been in great form this season. Marcus Rashford is a big part of that success. The forward scored his 11th league goal of the season in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against Leeds United. This puts him joint fourth in the Premier League Golden Boot race.

The Premier League has since posted a picture of the top five Premier League top scorers this season after Rashford’s goal. This year no Liverpool player made the top-five list yet. Specsavers could not resist the chance to include some roasting and replied to the post on Twitter with, “Have Liverpool not been playing this year?”

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s star player has won the Premier League Golden Boot three times including last season.

However, Salah only has seven goals this season along with Firmino, who also has seven while new signing Darwin Nunez has five. Liverpool is also set to face Real Madrid in the Champions League and is already out of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. The various injury issues and out-of-form players along with the lack of new reinforcements in the winter transfer window have led to a very bad season.

However, Marcus Rashford still has a lot to score to win the Golden Boot. Currently, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland seems to be the favorite to win the Golden Boot with 25 goals. Tottenham’s Harry Kane is the second with 17 goals and in third is Ivan Toney with 13 goals. Mitrovic is joint fourth with Marcus Rashford with 11 strikes.
