Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce already proved his dominance on the NFL field but still does not seem able to win the heart of Pittsburgh Steelers rookie tight end Darnell Washington.
Killa Trav started his NFL journey in 2013 and already has played 10 seasons for the Chiefs, on the other hand, the Georgia tight end recently stepped into the NFL world with the 93rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Travis Kelce does not appear on Darnells’ top-five tight-end list
The rookie Steelers player made an appearance on the most recent episode of the “All Things Covered” podcast, which is co-hosted by Peterson and McFadden, and he shared his list of the top five tight ends in the NFL. His deliberate omission of the Chiefs TE’s name came as unexpected to many. What was his logic behind this?
“Yes, he’s listed as a tight end,” he said. “He’s in tight-end formations here and there. But to me, he’s just a bigger receiver.”
Even though Patrick Mahomes, the league’s best player, witnessed the athletic prowess of the TW closely in Super Bowl LVII and also considers the 33-year-old to be the best tight end of all time, a rookie tight end’s assessment of this star tight end is undoubtedly a bold one as he only regards Kelce as a bigger receiver not as one of the best tight end.
“Travis, I mean, it’s Travis, greatest tight end of all time, he makes plays like that to win games,” Mahomes said.
With 1,416 yards, Travis has amassed the most receiving yards in a season in NFL history. With 105 receptions, he became the only tight end in NFL history with multiple seasons of 100+ catches, making him the tight end with the highest scoring total in postseason history.
He has also played in eight Pro Bowls, made three All-Pro teams, and has 48 career receiving touchdowns, ranking fifth in franchise history.
In addition to two Conference Championship rings as the AFC Champion, he has one Super Bowl ring from the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory in Super Bowl LIV.
The career of Killa Trav looks sufficient for him to rank among the top five tight ends in the league, but, like Kelce, we too are unsure of how he will demonstrate his superiority to Darnell as a tight end. Through his statement, the Steelers TE has probably put him in difficult competition.
