“I see myself as James Bond” Dwayne Johnson’s stance on playing the iconic 007 role comes as shocking revelation

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson appears to be ready to suit up and order a martini after expressing interest in playing James Bond, preferring the iconic 007 positions over a villain character in the action franchise.

WWE has produced a number of megastars throughout the years, but few have the star power of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The Rock’s influence as an entertainer had created a distinct path for himself in Hollywood.

However, The Rock’s grandfather Peter Maivia, a wrestler himself, starred opposite Sean Connery as the “bad guy” in the 1967  Bond film You Only Live Twice.

With roles in blockbusters like Black Adam, Jumanji, and Fast and Furious, Dwayne aka The Rock is no stranger to high-octane action and is more than ready to take on the role of Bond.

The Rock in James Bond’s Role?

The Rock indicated that he would like to be in the Star Wars franchise but he later returned to 007 and discussed how he would like to play the iconic character.

“I see myself as James Bond. F*** the villain! An American Bond? It can happen, right? It’s like Henry Cavill playing Superman,” Johnson said.

When asked in a recent interview what film franchise he’d most like to be a part of, Johnson brought up the 007 connection in his family tree.

“You know my grandfather was in You Only Live Twice?” he told LadBible. “He was, he was a bad guy in You Only Live Twice. He had this amazing fight scene with Sean Connery. Yeah, I could see that… I would easily say, James Bond.”

As a former Bond actor, Pierce Brosnan played Doctor Fate in Johnson’s first outing as a superhero, we’re sure Johnson didn’t forget to learn some James Bond moves on the set of Black Adam. Johnson would be a slam dunk for the new Bond with his training and movie reputation.
