“I was wrong” Packers’ Quay Walker issues apology after getting ejected for shoving Lions’ medical staffer

Quay Walker, the Green Bay Packers linebacker, was ejected from the game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Packers eventually lost the game and were eliminated from playoff contention.

The Packers need to secure the game anyhow to qualify for the playoffs; rather, they lost in the final, decisive fourth quarter after staying in the lead for the previous three quarters. During the fourth quarter, Walker purposefully pushed a medical staff member and was ejected. However, he seemed to come back to his senses after the dust settled.

What did Quay Walker say as an apology?

The 22-year-old released an apology statement yesterday after getting huge backlash for his action. This was the second time he pulled such a stunt and got ejected for it in his rookie year. “I want to apologize publicly about what happened Sunday night. I reacted off of my emotions again and take full responsibility for making another stupid decision.” he wrote on Twitter.

Quay also acknowledged his actions as ‘wrong’, by saying, “Since then I’ve questioned myself on why did I do what I did when the trainer was doing his job!! I was wrong!!”

“To the Detroit lions and to the entire training staff including the person I did that too. I’m sorry,” the rookie addressed the victim.

After his coach Matt LaFleur expressed his disappointment for his stupid action, Walker also apologized to him and the team, saying, “I apologized to them as well because that reflects on them. It always comes back to the head coach and everything like that.”

Previously, right after being kicked out, Walker was expressing his frustration. However, the linebacker explained this action as self-criticism. “I wasn’t upset about being kicked out, I just knew I messed up again and was wrong for what I did and couldn’t believe I did it again,” he elucidated.

Quay Walker was drafted in the 2022 NFL draft and picked by the Green Bay Packers in the 22nd pick in round one. before that, he played for Georgia at the college level.
