“I’m angry about it” Ajax manager lashed out at Antony following staggering €100 million Man Utd transfer

Manchester United has a well-deserved reputation for possessing an effective transfer market skill by signing highly sought-after players under the radar, and the English club have lived up to that reputation by adding Brazilian international player Antony to their ranks with little fanfare.

Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder however, disliked the sudden move from the Red devils which he called a loss of money regarding the transfer of the Brazilian winger.

Why did Ajax’s manager despise Antony after he moved to Manchester United?

Brazilian talented winger Antony is likely to join Manchester United, but Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder has chastised him for attempting to push a move to Old Trafford.

Schreuder has slammed Antony’s “weird” behavior before the €100 million (£84 million) transfer to Manchester United.

The Brazil international had been pleading for the transfer since he really wanted to leave Amsterdam following two successful seasons. The 22-year-old has gone on strike at the club in an attempt to force a trade, according to Mirror Football.

Antony is on the verge of breaking the record for a Dutch club with his move to Old Trafford, where he will reunite with former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag and colleague Lisandro Martinez. He will be United’s fifth signing of the summer.

According to a report in De Telegraaf, Ajax technical director Gerry Hamstra, right-hand man Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, and manager Alfred Schreuder all opposed the transfer. The Eredivisie giants have lost a number of key players this summer, including Martinez to Manchester United, and have been emphatic that no more stars would go.

However, the club’s leadership contradicted the ‘football’ leaders, with the board stepping in and directing them that, given the high transfer fee on the table, Ajax should take advantage of the opportunity to cash in on the player.

Antony appeared in 33 appearances for the Dutch giants last season, scoring 12 goals and contributing 10 assists in all competitions before being sidelined for the remainder of the season due to injury. He also played nine games for the Brazilian national team in the South American World Cup Qualifiers, scoring two goals.

When asked about the upcoming transfer, Schreuder informed Ziggo Sport, “Absolutely. I don’t think it’s good that it’s possible within our club. If you’re Ajax, it’s just bad that this happens. I’ve talked about it with him. If you’re disappointed for a day or two, I understand, but at some point you’re a professional.”
