‘I’m moving faster, jumping higher’ Zion Williamson hopes mirroring Michael Jordan’s magnificence

After missing the entire 2021-22 season due to a severe foot injury, New Orleans star power forward Zion Williamson snatches the spotlight as he is about to join the approaching season with his outstanding physique. It seems like #1 of the Pelicans had been preparing himself during his recovery period just to reflect the charismas of legendary Michael Jordan on the court.

Only 16 days remain till the gem plays a genuine match after waiting for over 500 days in NBA’s 2022-23 season against Brooklyn Nets. Zion’s right foot injury needed to undergo surgery refraining him from the 28m long court. But the former Duke power forward affirms he is at his “best right now” and growing mad keen to kick off his first match after injury on 19th October.

In retrospect, Zion, being an extraordinary player, is often compared with Air Jordan in terms of credentials. The 22-year-old star player became the fastest NBA player after MJ to reach 2,000 points, doing so in just 79 games. Jordan set the bar high with 37.1 points per game in 1987, and no one has come close since. Only Zion Williamson, however, has a shot at shattering the chronicle. Zion has established himself as one of the NBA’s best players with an average of 27 ppg, including 7.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.

While attending the New Orleans annual conference, Zion shared his thrill with the media, “That’s a long time without playing the game. But my excitement level is through the roof, I’m just ready to get back on the court. My focus over the summer was just getting back to playing shape, playing condition, and honing my craft as usual.” Zion’s own words, “I feel like I’m at my best right now. I feel like I’m moving faster, jumping higher, I feel great,” reflects self-belief.

Now the question remains, is Zion fit enough to mirror the legacy of Jordan even after his injury? Let’s wait to figure it out by ourselves on Oct 19’22.
