Jets Aaron Rodgers sends encouraging message to rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson: “I’m excited to watch you in your career”

Football fans were on their cloud nine to witness a heartwarming interaction between the former Green Bay Packers legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

After struggling to a 7-10 record last season, the Browns aimed to bolster their roster by picking former UCLA star Dorian Thompson-Robinson in the 2023 NFL Draft.

What message did Aaron Rodgers send to Dorian Thompson-Robinson?

The Jets newly acquired QB Rodgers made a video to convey a heartfelt welcome to the Cleveland rookie to the NFL and expressed his excitement to watch him evolve in the league.

“DTR, what’s up man? Congratulations and welcome to the league, buddy,” said Rodgers. “(I’m) Excited to have you in Cleveland so I can watch you develop, watch you play, watch you prove a lot of people wrong who passed on you many times”, he said.

DTR’s debut can be challenging as he is set to become the backup to Deshaun Watson. The 10-time Pro Bowler knows the situation as he frequently had to face his fair share of critics throughout the course of his career, hence he had conveyed his advice for the fifth-round pick of the Browns and also congratulated him over his impressive career at UCLA.

“Now you just get a fresh new batch of haters and deniers. I’m excited to watch you in your career. Loved watching you play at UCLA, loved watching you beat up on USC. I’m excited to meet you.”

Aaron also slipped down the draft board like Thompson-Robinson

Despite doing incredible performances in his junior and senior years, the 18-year-NFL veteran went through infamous green room embarrassment in the 2005 NFL Draft as he had to wait and wait before finally being chosen as the 24th pick, albeit the ex-Packers quickly established himself as one of the legendary players in the football history inking several titles including Super Bowl XLV champion, Super Bowl MVP, four-time NFL MVP, four-time First-team All-Pro, Second-team All-Pro, 10-time Pro Bowler.

Dorian recorded 3,169 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions last season while rushing for 645 yards and 12 scores, albeit he too slipped down to occupy the 140th spot in the draft board.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder may not see the field anytime soon, however, the motivation from one of the league’s legends will definitely boost his confidence whenever he gets the chance to prove his worth on the field.
