Jordan Pickford’s butter-finger fumble frustrates England against Germany, late Harry Kane equalizer brings lucky draw

Germany hosted England on their UEFA Nations League triumph in Munich last night as neither of them got the desired result and left the pitch with 1-1 draw.

Two teams met at the Allianz Arena after disappointing start to their Nations League campaign hoping to win the contest and keep the group leader on pressure.

The first half of the game witnessed the Germans were on the upper hand while forcing the English defense to prevent the attacks from both wings. Manuel Neuer also suffered on a few occassions as well.

Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Jonas Hoffmann opened the scoresheet for Germany with the assist from Joshua Kimmich by keeping a cool head and finished off with style while finding Pickford alone in front of him.

Several English media and sports pundits however, criticizing Jordan Pickford solely for his less contributions despite his heroic saving of some wonderful German attacks.

What former players said about the England Goalkeeper?

Ex-England international Joe Cole quoted: “We saw in the first half Manuel Neuer make the exact same save and he made it look easy. I think Pickford will be disappointed, he made a great save after that but with that one, he leant to one side and got it wrong.”

Former player Michael Owen blamed another player and said, “I felt as though it was Declan Rice, he vacates his area and breaks the line,”

What might happen next for the England team?

As things stand, the Three Lions are on the brink of relegation from Group-A and likely to play in Group-B of the Nations League unless they find a much better result with Italy at home in the Molineux Stadium on June 11.

Will Pickford miss out the first place on the next match?

It is still unclear whether the England No.1 goalkeeper would start or remain on the bench for the game against Italy as Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale might be preferred by Gareth Southgate.
