“Kyrie Irving wants to be coached” Mavericks’ HC Jason Kidd gets ridiculed for his comments on ex-Nets star by NBA fans

Kyrie Irving finally joined the Dallas Mavericks in a blockbuster trade deal on Monday, after a wild weekend. The athlete submitted a trade request on Friday after falling off of a potential extension negotiation.

The Mavericks swooped in and snatched the prized player from the Los Angeles Lakers, despite Kyrie’s preference for Los Angeles in the previous summer. Along with the star, the Mavericks got Markieff Morris from the Brooklyn Nets, along with Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a 2027 first-round pick, and a first-round and a second-round pick in the 2029 NBA draft.

With this deal, Mavs head coach Jason Kidd expressed his excitement and feelings. But some fans think he became overjoyed by the star point guard’s arrival.

What did Jason Kidd say about Kyrie Irving?

When expressing his reaction, coach Jason became excited and said, “We have a relationship. He’s all about basketball. He wants to win. He wants to be coached. This is a great opportunity for me.”

Well, at first glance, that seems like a typical statement, but when he was talking about Kyrie, he should have thought twice about what he was going to say. Kyrie has a long history of controversial stances and inappropriate attitudes.

During his Nets career, he promoted an anti-Semitic player last year, and before that, he had a couple of run-ins with the legendary Steve Nash, whom eventually the coach had to let go. Even the current coach, Jacque Vaughn, had trouble managing the talented professional.

How did fans react to Jason Kidd’s remark?

The fans sneered at Kidd’s take on the 30-year-old PG and mocked him on Twitter. “How long until somebody remind him of this quote? 😂 I say 3 months” one fan wrote.

Another said, “Good luck Jason I can’t wait to see how this Kyrie soap opera plays out!! Get the popcorn ready.”
