Lionel Messi advises PSG’s Kylian Mbappe to join Real Madrid, snubs former club Barcelona: “You deserve a real wining project”

PSG fans were in dreamland when they heard the news about the Argentine magic man gracing the city of Paris. The excitement and anticipation were to watch the “MNM” trio perform magic in the Parc des Princes. The French giant is still in wait for their first elusive Champions League trophy. There were a lot of question marks when Lionel Messi left his home club FC Barcelona to move to PSG and play with Kylian Mbappe and his former teammate Neymar.

The departure of  Argentina’s number 10 sent shockwaves across Europe and little did they know it was just the beginning. A few weeks later, PSG’s number 7, Kylian Mbappe announced that he will not be renewing his contract which is due to end in 2024.

A lot has been said about, written about Albiceleste’s captain since that victory against France in the nightfall of Doha to win the World Cup. In hindsight, it is fair to say that PSG and Lionel Messi were on uncordial terms for a long time. Amidst the disputed relationship between the Les Bleus captain and PSG, Lionel Messi took one final jab at his former club, offering advice to Mbappe to seek out a fresh and exhilarating challenge.

According to Defensa Central, the Argentine maestro prefers Mbappe to join Barcelona but endorsed his decision to join the Spanish giants Real Madrid. Messi said “I prefer that you go to Barca. But if you want to go to Madrid, do it, you deserve a real winning project.”

Mbappe to join Real Madrid this transfer window?

After having come close to landing Kylian Mbappe at the Bernabeu for the past few years, it looks like the Los Blancos are going to have another shot at it. Mbappe has publicly reiterated his desire to play for PSG next season. The French captain told Gazzetta the  Sport “I didn’t ask to leave PSG or to join Real Madrid. I just told the club that I won’t activate the option to extend the contract until June 2025. We never discussed a new deal with PSG but I’m happy to stay here next season.”

PSG’s position is daylight clear on their number 7 which is to sign a new deal or he could be available in the market. Mbappe sent a letter to the PSG hierarchy which eluded on the fact of him not going to extend his contract beyond June 2024.

With every passing day of the transfer window, the poker games between the clubs are just getting a lot more interesting. There is no denying the fact that Real Madrid fans dream to watch Kylian Mbappe play in the Bernabeu wearing the sacred white jersey. On the other hand, PSG have made their intentions clear to the French superstar. Tighten your seatbelts people because this transfer window has a lot in store for us.
