Lionel Messi returning to Barcelona? President Laporta’s answer brings hope to Catalan fans

Amid the Lionel Messi rumors of a return back to Barcelona, President Joan Laporta has now provided more flames to the rumors.

As shown in a video sent on social media by Carrusel Deportivo, Lionel Messi will rejoin FC Barcelona, according to President Joan Laporta.

What did Joan Laporta say?

At the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Sunday, Laporta watched his men’s first team draw 0-0 with the hosts Getafe. The president addressed a series of quickfire questions while interacting with spectators in the stadium’s stands in Madrid, Spain.

Laporta said, “Now, now you’ll see,” when questioned about the ‘Caso Negreira’ referee committee money controversy. Laporta is scheduled to answer questions from the media and provide an explanation of the case in which Barca has been accused of “continued corruption” on Monday morning at Camp Nou’s 1899 Auditorium.

However, Laporta’s reaction to the question of whether Messi will go back to Barcelona is what has most people talking. The president responded with a “Si,” which should go without saying.

However, according to Gerard Romero, Laporta, and sports director Mateu Alemany had to create a “viability plan” for La Liga, which was submitted at the end of March. Laporta’s deputy and vice president Rafa Yuste recently stated that conversations with the Messi camp are in progress.

Additionally, according to transfer market analyst Romero, Barca still has to cut the payroll cost by €200 million ($220 million) to persuade Spanish top division president Javier Tebas that the team can make the numbers work.

Romero claims that Tebas believes Messi has already decided to join Barca, which may help to explain why Laporta is informing supporters that the Argentine will rejoin the Catalan club.

Is Lionel Messi really coming back to Barca?

Messi, left Barcelona as the team’s all-time leading goalscorer and appearances leader in 2021 while under Laporta’s watch. He will become a free agent on June 30 and will be able to leave Paris Saint-Germain without any restrictions.
