Liverpool legend criticizes Martin Odegaard’s kind gesture following Arsenal’s brilliant victory

With Arsenal securing a victory against Liverpool at the Emirates, the kickoff for the title race has already started. Arsenal is now only two points behind the table leaders, Liverpool, with Manchester City holding the third position.

Mikel Arteta’s men did not hold back after their hard-fought victory and Martin Odegaard took the opportunity to show his camera skills. Amid the chaos of Arsenal’s celebrations of keeping the title race alive, a former Liverpool player was evidently unimpressed.

Arsenal have just secured an exhilarating over Liverpool in what had been a massive showdown between the PL giants. With goals from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard, Mikel Arteta’s side added 3 points in the league table.

The victory against Liverpool meant a lot to the Arsenal players which could evidently be seen from their celebrations. The Gunners did not leave any opportunity to celebrate to the fullest.

Martin Odegaard was seen asking the club photographer to pose with the fans, while he himself clicked their pictures. Meanwhile, Arteta couldn’t contain his excitement, seen sprinting wildly on the sidelines while celebrating the goals.

This match was crucial for Arsenal to gain points, especially with Manchester City having a two-match advantage that could close the gap.

Jamie Carragher slams Martin Odegaard

While Arsenal’s victory brought celebrations to a peak, not everyone shared the joy. Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher was notably displeased.

The video of Odegaard posing with the photographer and capturing the moment didn’t sit well with Carragher. He expressed his disappointment, saying, “Just get down in the tunnel. You’ve won a big game, you’ve got three points, you’re back in the title race, just get down the tunnel. I’m being serious, honestly.”

In fact, Carragher believes the win was more beneficial for Man City in the long run that it has been for Arsenal.

“[Arsenal] are back in the hunt if you like but if I’m being totally honest, I think today’s result is a better result for Man City then is for Arsenal. I think Manchester City will look at Liverpool as a big threat in terms of the title because we’ve been there before and we’ve got players who’ve done it before so for me, tonight, I think the biggest winners are Man City.”

It’s clear that Jamie was not taking his former team’s loss lightly, and the exuberant celebrations from the Arsenal team added to his frustration.
