Lucas Hernandez to link up with Kylian Mbappe at PSG, Bayern Munich rumored to sell World Cup winner for €50M

Bayern Munich and France superstar Lucas Hernandez is rumored to join French club Paris Saint Germain this summer.

Paris Saint Germain is going to have a busy summer. They have had high-profile exits of Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos, and the departures of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr are still possible. This is why PSG needs to bring in reinforcements this summer.

And now they have turned their interest to Lucas Hernandez, the French left-back who is currently under contract with Bayern Munich.

Should Lucas Hernandez join PSG?

According to French outlet L’Equipe, the Bavarians were hesitant to let the defender leave this summer. Even though rumors of an exit were prevalent for some time, Thomas Tuchel wanted to keep him for his versatility.

The same source now reports that Bayern has decided to let Hernandez leave as he is refusing to sign a contract extension. The Frenchman only has one year remaining in his contract and can leave for free next summer. Bayern had given an extension offer until 2027, but he hasn’t accepted it.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the player has already agreed personal terms with PSG and the two clubs have already initiated talks over a possible departure. Hernandez has already communicated his decision that he wants to join PSG to the Bayern board.

However, Bayern will ask for a big fee to let Hernandez leave this summer. A fee of €50M will be asked, with PSG not having made any official offer yet.

Hernandez is excited to play in the French capital as he will link up with international teammate Kylian Mbappe. He is also very “enticed by the Paris Saint-Germain project”.

However, the continuity of Mbappe himself is in doubt after he also refused a contract renewal at the club.

Lucas Hernandez’s achievements with Bayern Munich?

Hernandez joined Bayern back in 2019, signing from Atletico Madrid for a £43m deal. He signed a five year contract there, which will expire next summer.

He has since racked up 107 appearances at the club, with 2 goals and 8 assists at the club. This season he has only had 11 appearances, due to sustaining long injuries.

While at the club, he managed to establish himself as a vital part of the team. His versatility in playing anywhere in the defense, and his aggressive mentality managed to make him a difference maker in the German team.

Hernandez also won many trophies with Bayern, helping win 4 of the last Bundesliga titles. He also won the German Cup once and the German Super Cup twice. In his first season, he won the Champions League with the team though he didn’t feature much. He then completed a sextuple campaign with the club, winning the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

He has won everything with Bayern and he now wants to go to his home country to try out a new challenge. A transfer agreement will be expected in the coming days with PSG about to secure a very good player.
