Manchester United transfer rumors: Barcelona reject offered to Red Devils in late window swoop

Manchester United have been surprisingly struggling this season when fans all over the world thought that this might be the season when they go on a vindictive run of form to claim there first Premier League title in recent years. After the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, the club crumbled really badly, with no manager able to regain that bit of composure back at the helm. Even the great Jose Mourinho was unable to handle the pressure of the Manchester United helm.

But last year, when Erik ten Hag joined the club as its manager, the situation was handled a bit well. This season, however, the club is again back in ruins, with injury and performance crises affecting it at the same time. Obviously, transfers are needed in both the forward and defense departments, and with the new administration under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club looks to do the same, with them already being linked to numerous players in this window itself.

Manchester United reportedly offered chance to sign former Barcelona striker

The Red Devils are reportedly linked with yet another Danish striker, this time Martin Braithwaite. The former Barcelona striker has been plying his trade for the Catalonian side Espanyol since leaving Barcelona two seasons ago. The striker was signed by Barcelona to replace their all-time legend striker Luis Suarez and he did perform decently well initially. But as time went by, his performance decreased as well, so his move out of the club materialized that season.

Though his current club got relegated back to the Spanish second division last season, he has looked impressively good this season. Braithwaite is currently the top scorer in La Liga 2 with 11 goals and has helped his team stay in 3rd place in the points table, around the promotion spot.

Recent reports have suggested that both Chelsea and Manchester United have been interested in the signing of the Danish forward, with a late-winter transfer move still in play. But even though the Red Devils, who are desperately facing striker issues this season, are not able to sign him this window, it has been widely reported that the 32-year-old forward has a clause in his Espanyol contract that allows him to leave for free if he is able to help them get promoted to the first division of the Spanish league this season.

Manchester United have scored only 24 goals this season in the Premier League while sitting 8th in the Premier League standings table. This goal-scoring issue arose from the lack of form of Marcus Rashford, new big-money signing Rasmus Højlund and Brazilian Antony, all of which disappointed this term for the Red Devils.

United interested in signing Juventus defender

The Red Devils defense this season has been absolutely shambolic as well. The club has conceded 29 goals already in the Premier League and a record-breaking 15 goals in the Champions League. Although the squad has some recurring injuries, the drop-off still doesn’t make any sense and desperately calls out for new signings.

Recent reports have claimed that the Red Devils, who was recently linked to a move for former Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, have now been linked with the signing of Brazilian centre-back Gleison Bremer, who has been performing really well for Juventus this season. Even though this could be a really difficult signing considering Juventus are not an easy club to deal with, it still presents ten Hag with the idea of reuniting and placing former Juventus teammates Matthijs de Ligt and Bremer, which could be really beneficial for the Red Devils’ future in defense.

The 26-year-old centre-back, who made a €44.00 million move to Juventus FC in the summer of last season, has been in fine form, featuring in 22 matches already for the Italian club.
