Marcus Rashford addresses his Man United loyalty critics
The post-Ferguson era hasn’t brought huge success to Manchester United, but amidst the smaller triumphs the club has enjoyed, Marcus Rashford played a very important role in those achievements. While Rashford has been linked with a PSG move following Mbappe announcement of his departure from the French capital, fans have started questioning Rashford’s loyalty towards the club.
However, in an Interview with The Players Tribune, Marcus Rashford refuted the doubts surrounding him and his loyalty towards Manchester United. Despite describing him as an introvert who ignores the outside noise, he emphasized that there are certain lines which shouldn’t be crossed when it comes to criticism.
He dismissed these critics as individuals who fail to address the situation at hand and instead focus on unrelated matters.
Rashford also talked about his loyalty towards Manchester United, saying, “When I was about 10 or 11 years old, I was getting a lot of attention, and we had all kinds of agents and clubs trying to pass things to my family. A few clubs offered us life-changing money.”
Even after all of that he stayed committed and his dream was to play for Manchester United.
Marcus Rashford opens up about meeting Man United legends
Rashford fondly recalled a childhood memory of meeting United legends Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, who served as idols for the young footballer. The English star revealed that during his visit to the United academy, he was in awe when he first saw Rooney and Ronaldo, both renowned as exceptional footballers at that time.
He also revealed that he had the opportunity to take a photograph but didn’t take it. He said, “I remember my brother saying, ‘Go take a picture with Wazza (Rooney) bro! What are you doing?’ I said, ‘I don’t need a picture…. I’m going to be playing alongside them some day.” Indeed, he kept his world and has fulfilled his dream of playing for Manchester United.
Marcus Rashford was given his debut under Louis Van Gaal in 2015. At just 17 years old, he soon rose to stardom within the team by scoring on his debut. He went on to play alongside Wazza, aka Rooney, and even won a trophy alongside him. Rashford has also played with Ronaldo upon his latter’s return to Old Trafford after 18 long years.
