Marcus Rashford set to pen eye-watering $500k-per-week contract amid PSG speculation

Marcus Rashford is set to become one of the highest-paid players in England after agreeing to a new contract extension at Manchester United.

Rashford has been in electric form this season for United. He has found the back of the net 30 times in 56 overall games across all competitions. It was his best season by far and helped the club a lot, winning the Carabao Cup and also leading to Champions League qualification.

His current deal will expire in June 2024, and United considered his renewal a priority since January. Now, it looks like he will be ready to give more for his club in the next seasons as well.

Marcus Rashford to extend Manchester United stay with new contract

The club was in contact with the player’s agents for quite some time. And now according to the Daily Mail, both parties have reached an agreement for a new contract.

He will sign a new deal until 2028, and his salary will increase from £250k weekly to £375k. This shadows the departure of longtime goalkeeper and veteran David De Gea, who left for free after contract negotiations broke down. He was their highest earner at the time, earning what Rashford will soon be earning.

As he becomes the club’s highest earner, he will be the fourth highest-paid player in the Premier League. He is only behind Manchester City’s Erling Braut Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Rashford has been at United since the age of seven and is one of their most successful academy graduates in recent years. He has 128 goals in 373 appearances for the club since making his debut in 2016.

PSG reportedly weighed on Rashford move with imminent Kylian Mbappe exit

Marcus Rashford was also being monitored by a number of clubs both abroad and at home. Apparently, Paris Saint Germain was his biggest admirer as they wanted to replace Kylian Mbappe with the 25-year-old Englishman.

PSG are bracing for the departure of star player Kylian Mbappe this summer. This is after they decided to offload him as he publicly said he won’t renew his contract there. Coupled with the departure of Lionel Messi to Inter Miami and uncertainty regarding Neymar Jr, PSG needed to desperately improve their attacking reinforcements.

Already they have signed Marco Asensio on a free from Real Madrid. They then turned their eyes to Rashford, even meeting with his agent Dwaine Maynard. But Rashford seemed in no hurry to leave Manchester, now instead signing a contract extension.

United will soon announce the extension deal after Rashford puts pen to paper. The Red Devils are having a busy summer transfer window after the signing of Mason Mount, and the imminent signing of Andre Onana. And it now looks like more is to arrive soon, and we cannot wait to hear the good news.
