Max Verstappen shuts down rumors of joining Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari: “It’s not even in my head”

Following the bombshell announcement of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton moving to Ferrari in 2025, the Formula 1 community was hit with a shockwave of surprise. It was sudden and surprising news for everyone, even for the reigning World Champion, Max Verstappen.

Talking on the ‘Hamilton-Ferrari’ matter, Max Verstappen was asked the ‘million-dollar’ fantasy question: Will he join Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari?

Max Verstappen talks about rumored moved to Ferrari

In a recent interview, Max Verstappen revealed his ‘surprise’ over Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari and admitted that Hamilton will ‘look cool’ in the red suits.

During the media session, Max Verstappen was also asked whether he would consider doing ‘Lewis Hamilton’s Schumacher-esque move’ to Ferrari in the future. The Dutchman- who is contracted to Red Bull until 2028, completely shut down this suggestion.

“I don’t want to sound disrespectful or whatever. I mean, I have a lot of respect for the brand Ferrari, but I’m very happy where I am at the moment. So, I’m comfortable in the environment that I’m in, so for me, it’s not something that I’m looking for, to change or whatever,” he told.

“But in my life, I know from what I’ve experienced so far, I never say never with things,” Verstappen added.

Prioritizing the present over his future possibilities, he said, “For me now, it’s not even in my head. But again, it’s only Formula One. I want to do more things than Formula One, as well.”

Can Verstappen and Hamilton ever be on the same team?

In an interview with Telegraph last season, Max Verstappen revealed his thoughts on being the same team featuring Lewis Hamilton. He expressed that the partnership ‘would never work’, saying “For sure we would be trying to beat each other”.

During another media session, Lewis Hamilton shared that he would be ‘more than happy’ to race against Verstappen in the same team. But, he preferred returning to winning ways with Mercedes.

In an interview with Motorsport, Helmut Marko- current Red Bull director- explained in greater details as to why Verstappen and Hamilton will never be on the same team. Marko asserted that the multi-time World Champions have just too much ‘rivalry and tension’ between them to drive as teammates. He also showed the financial angle as well, stating “And on the other hand, we cannot afford to have the two most expensive drivers in one team. It’s just never going to happen”.

From what Sportszion understands, it appears to be ‘almost impossible’ that Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton will ever be on the same team.
