NBA Trade News: Lakers have officially signed Javante McCoy and Fabian White Jr to Exhibit-10 deals

The two undrafted players, Javante McCoy and Fabian White Jr. have reached an agreement and signed with the Los Angeles Lakers to Exhibit 10 contracts, the organization announced today on social media. Both agreements were made public soon after the draft was published last month.

The 6’5″ guard McCoy led Boston University in scoring last year with an outstanding 17.4 points per game average. He also had a blazing 49.5 percent field goal and 42.5 percent three-point shooting percentage.

Fabian White the 6-feet-8 forward, played five seasons at Houston prior to declaring himself available for the draft. He shot 49 percent from the three-point range last season, averaging 12.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

The contracts that the two signed with Exhibit 10 guarantee them a spot on the roster for training camp while also encouraging them to sign with the Lakers’ G League team when they are unavoidably cut. White and McCoy were both undrafted basketball players in the 2022 NBA Draft.

These two players are also the first ones to agree to Exhibit 10 contracts with the franchise for the coming year. Cole Swider, Scotty Pippen Jr., and possibly Max Christie, the team’s second-round draft pick, will join McCoy and White in the lineup.

The signings are a part of the Lakers’ strategy to bolster their nucleus of LeBron James and Anthony Davis by adding younger, more athletic players. After having the NBA’s oldest squad last season, the franchise took notable initiatives to bring in a younger set of athletes this offseason.

Former Spurs wing Lonnie Walker, who received the Lakers’ mid-level exception on the opening day of free agency, is one such player. The Lakers also signed a pair of tall athletes, the 27-year-old Damian Jones and the 25-year-old Thomas Bryant. The new swingman Troy Brown Jr. is only 22 years old.
