NBA Trade Rumor: Lakers reportedly interested in trading Russell Westbrook in exchange for Wizards’ Bradley Beal

The LA Lakers are looking to revamp their squad, and have set their eyes on Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards to start their rebuild.

The LA Lakers are one of the most iconic teams to have ever played in the NBA. The Orange colored jersey is known worldwide, and they have a fan base both home and abroad. With the likes of LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the roster, the Los Angeles based outfit headed into the new season as title favorites. But their ambitions fell far from the reality, as they even did not make it into the play-in season. It was hugely disappointing season for the Lakers, who ended the season by firing coach Frank Vogel.

Now that the season is over, the owners are planning a rebuild to take the team back to the top. They want o start the rebuild by acquiring Bradley Beal from the Wizards.

“The one name that I’ve heard recently is Bradley Beal as another guy that they want,” Kevin O’Connor reported on The Void podcast. “I’m not sure if the interest is as mutual. You know Beal, it seems like Miami would be more of the threat to take him away from Washington. I don’t think you can also rule out Boston either because of his relationship with Jayson Tatum, but the Lakers are trying to angle for some moves like that using the Russ expiring and the ’27 and the ’29 firsts.”

Having someone like Beal would immediately turn the Lakers into sure shot title contenders. But as mentioned, there are a lot of complexities that have to overcome in order to push the deal over the finish line.

Over the last few seasons, the Lakers have eradicated their trade assets to pick up players like Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook. With so many limited trade picks at the helm, getting hold of someone like Beal would be difficult. He seems more destined to other teams such as Miami Heat or Boston Celtics.
