New England Patriots hire Bill O’Brien as new OC after miserable offensive season

The New England Patriots seemed out of shape this season as they could not get a head start in the tournament. The six-time Super Bowl winners lost five out of their first seven games, tried to qualify for the playoffs, and ended up winning eight games.

However, they could not. Many factors led the team to perform poorly in the season, yet besides looking ordinary on the field, they had one of the worst offensive lineups of the season. Bill O’Brien might just get them back on track.

The Patriots’ offense was so out of character that they only reached the thirty points mark once in their entire campaign. Moreover, New England was stranded in the single-digit mark twice in back-to-back matches- scoring six points against the Raiders and seven against the Dolphins.

Consequently, This raised serious concerns in the Patriots’ camp. The team, along with the quarterback Mac Jones was in search of a new offensive coordinator- a coach who knows the team well enough to guide the offensive lineup and bring crucial changes in their playing approach.

Guess the search is over, as Adam Schefter with his tweet announces Bill O’Brien is back in the Patriots camp.

What did Adam Schefter tweet?

Adam Schefter in his tweet wrote,

“Alabama OC/QB coach Bill O’Brien has returned to New England and is being named the Patriots offensive coordinator, sources tell @ClowESPN and me. O’Brien was a Patriots’ assistant coach from 2007-2011, and now returns to coach Mac Jones, whom he briefly worked with at Alabama.”

Firstly, Bill O’Brien is the perfect candidate for the Patriots. Furthermore, he has everything the Patriots were searching for, the coordinator has significant experience with the New England team and knows the team culture well enough.

On top of that, O’Brien has worked under Bill Belichick. And if that was not good enough, the fans will be ecstatic to know that Bill has a 52-48 head coaching record working with the Texans.

Can Bill O’Brien fix the Patriots’ offensive lineup? Time will tell.
