Niagara Falls, City of Buffalo landmarks light up blue in support Bills’ DB Damar Hamlin

As the whole nation waits in anxious anticipation and prays with their hearts for Buffalo Bills defender Damar Hamlin, the city of Buffalo illuminates the sky to show their support for the youngster.

Damar Hamlin was picked by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft after graduating from Pittsburgh University. Since then, he has completed 93 tackles, 65 of which were solo efforts in 29 games. The 24-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest while completing a tackle against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.

Why did Buffalo’s sky illuminate after Damar Hamlin’s injury?

On Tuesday night, at Niagra Falls, the buffalo’s landmark was lit in blue in support of Damar following his injury. The falls put on a fantastic display during the first fifteen minutes of the ninth hour, with the city hall also putting on a performance after the ordeal. The mayor of Buffalo gave a statement regarding the act.

“Our continued thoughts and prayers are with Damar Hamlin, his family, and the Bills organization as we continue to watch and pray for his healing. Tonight, our entire community continues to come together as we light the City of Buffalo in blue and red in a continued show of support for Damar,” the mayor said.

The Bengals also send their regards to the Hamlin family, lighting their home venue, Paycor Stadium, in blue, the color of buffalo bills. To represent the unity of both teams, the entire city of Cincinnati was painted red and blue.
