‘Nobody Likes to Lose’ Canelo Alvarez Gives Brutally Honest Take On Achieving ‘Greatness’

Nobody likes to lose, and Canelo Alvarez is no different. But the Mexican boxer is willing to take risks to achieve greatness inside the ring.

Canelo Alvarez is one of the best fighters out there today. But his recent loss to Dmitry Bivol has somewhat changed his path to achieving greatness.  Alvarez recognizes that defeats are a part of the journey, and is willing to work hard to achieve the greatness he seeks.

Speaking at a press conference, the 31-yer old was confident of returning to winning ways, “Nobody likes to lose, personally I am a very competitive person who risks to have greatness. I feel proud. As men you have to recognize when you lose, but we are going to do it again.”

Alvarez was asked about his rematch against Bivol, but he confirmed that his next fight will be against Kazakhstan boxer Gennady Golkovin, “Surely yes (it will be against Golovkin), we already had that fight. We have to continue what we started and I think they are the two most important fights in boxing (the third against GGG and the rematch with Bivol),” he commented at the press conference.

The fight is yet to be made official, but it is widely expected to be made official in the coming days. The fight against Golkovin will give Alvarez to turn the page and head into the next chapter of his career. Although it is by no means an easy fight against GGG, Canelo has it in his arsenal to get a victory.

Canelo was supposed to fight in his home country of Mexico, but contractual obligations have delayed those as of now. He has also been called out by YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul.
