Oleksandr Usyk promoter sheds light on fighter’s mindset and heart: “He loves his opponent, he respects him”

When a boxer is in the ring and on the verge of knocking out their opponent, fans of boxing may frequently wonder what is going through that boxer’s head. Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter recently discussed how Usyk’s head and heart function in circumstances like this when he has the upper hand.

The mega-fight between Usyk and Tyson Fury was originally set for April 29, but it was postponed owing to several technical difficulties. The Ukrainian heavyweight is now planning to face Daniel Dubois in a mandatory title defense bout in the upcoming summer.

What did the promoter of Oleksandr Usyk comment on the fighter’s fighting philosophy?

Managing and promoting Usyk has been Alexander Krassyuk’s responsibility for a while. Alex recently took part in an interview with Gareth A Davies, during which he covered a variety of subjects, including Usyk’s fighting strategy.

“When he comes to the ring, it’s his profession, so he has to fight and he has to win – but he doesn’t have to hate his opponent. He loves his opponent. He respects him. With a full heart of love, he hits him according to the rules, but he doesn’t feel this anger.” said Krassyuk.

The Ukrainian heavyweight has only competed twice in the past two years, and both of those fights were against Anthony Joshua. Even though Cat had the chance to finish the British fighter with a knockout but he refrained himself from doing that intentionally. Usyk may have won consecutive fights against AJ but none of the victories were by knockout.

“This is his philosophy. That’s why he explained he did not knock out Anthony Joshua in the twelfth round. He says ‘I’m winning on points. Why should his kids watch his father falling on the ring, when enough is done to get the victory? That’s his mindset.” Krassyuk added.
