Aaron Rodgers Jets teammate, Denzel Mims might leave the team soon. According to the team, they will move on from the wide receiver if they don’t find a trade partner. This can be an exceptional opportunity for the Patriots to strengthen their WR depth.
Mims was a second-round draft pick in 2020. Since then, he has played in 30 games. He is now in the final year of his rookie contract
Patriots reportedly interested in acquiring Denzel Mims

The NFL insider, Matt Lombardo shared that the two potential landing spots for Mims are the Pittsburgh Steelers and Patriots.

This season the Patriots wanted to acquire DeAndre Hopkins, but he was acquired by the Tennessee Titans. Although Mims is not near the caliber of Hopkins, he can be a great addition to the team.
In his first three NFL seasons, he reeled in just 42 catches for 676 yards and no touchdowns. He can thrive better with the Jets under the guidance of their exceptional coaches. Ultimately, he will be a good addition to the team and help improve the WR depth of the team.
Who is WR 1 for the Patriots?
Even if the Patriots couldn’t acquire Mims in a trade, they might be able to land him in a free agency. But it is only possible if the Jets finally decide to release him.
The current wide receiver depth chart of the Patriots consists of expected starters JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Tyquan Thornton, and reserves Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte, etc.
Currently, the roster of the Jets is already very strong with the quarterback Aaron Rodgers, OC Nathaniel Hackett, and the WR Garrett Wilson. If Wilson and Rodgers can get close, they will put up some of the best numbers in the league. But it seems that the Patriots aren’t satisfied with their roster yet. Their efforts to acquire Mims show that they are still working on their roster and want to come fully prepared in the new NFL season.
