Rodrygo equals PSG star Leo Messi scoring stats after netting two goals at Copa del Rey final for Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s young Brazilian forward, Rodrygo, has equaled Lionel Messi, as Los Blancos snatch up the Copa Del Rey title with a 2-1 victory over Osasuna in the final.

Rodrygo gave Real Madrid a blistering start, finding the back of the net in the second minute of the match. The first half of the match ended with Real leading after that goal.

However, Osasuna managed to eventually find an equalizer in the second half, after Lucas Torro beat Thibaut Courtois in the 58th minute. The young Brazilian forward struck again in the 70th minute, which proved to be the winning goal.

With this victory, Real Madrid won the Spanish Cup for the 20th time, the first time since the 2013-14 season, when Los Blancos emerged victorious in a famous El Clasico duel against FC Barcelona.

Rodrygo

Before Rodrygo’s brace earlier today, Lionel Messi was the last player to score a brace in the Copa Del Rey final. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner found the back of the net twice in the 2020-21 Copa Del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao.

Rodrygo dedicated his goals to a cancer victim.

Rodrygo’s emotional celebration of the game-winning goal included a touching tribute to a young cancer survivor.

Speaking to the media following the game, Rodrygo stated: “I dedicated it to Nacho, a kid I visited at Juegaterapia, which is a place that cares for children with cancer. I went over there to pay them a visit and give them a gift or two. He asked me to make the “I” for Ignacio if I scored, so the second goal was for him.”

After bonding with the boy over the FIFA game during Rodrygo’s recent visit to the foundation, the Brazilian was moved by the boy’s story of recovery. He delivered on his promise to make it an unforgettable and touching experience.

Rodrygo

Rodrygo’s substantial performance in the final earned him the Man of the Match award, and the Brazilian will surely party over the trophy!
