The fan, Jay Fear is an avid supporter of the Welsh club. The 45-year-old has been diagnosed with terminal appendix cancer. Him and his family received the tickets to watch Wrexham’s home game against Boreham Wood this Saturday as donation, and Jay will probably not like to miss out this opportunity to watch his favorite side from the gallery.
Jay also has been a huge fan of the co-owner of the Wrexham AFC, Ryan Reynolds, for an extended period. In an interview with BBC, Jay stated that his fandom for Ryan began with the 2003 film ‘Van Wilder’.
“I’ve always loved Ryan Reynolds – ever since Van Wilder. I remember watching that for the first time and thinking that guy was cool. I started watching the Wrexham programme on Disney Plus and when you watch that you can’t help but love Wrexham. It would be so nice to go to a Wrexham game and actually meet Ryan Reynolds at the same time,” said the 45-year-old cancer patient.
Jay also dreamt of meeting Ryan in person. In a recent incident, BBC reporter Peter Gillibrand asked Ryan about Jay’s chances of meeting him. The ‘Deadpool’ star gave an enthusiastic reply : “I’ll find him. Any idea where he’s sitting?”
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney don’t consider themselves as the Wrexham owners
Wrexham AFC was previously owned by the Wrexham Supporters Trust (WST), before Hollywood star duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney acquired the club in 2021. The duo have invested a total of about $12.5 million since their takeover.

Nevertheless, since the two Hollywood actors were not into soccer previously, and they’ve had to learn Wrexham’s history from off-shore, the duo consider themselves as “stewards” of the club, rather than the owners.
Wrexham has a chance to secure the Welsh National League title with a victory on Saturday, as they currently sit at the top of the table with 107 points from 44 games, 4 points above the 2nd place Notts. County.
Should the result on Saturday be otherwise, then the title decision will follow on to the season ending game next Saturday, where Wrexham will face Torquay united in an away game.
