Sadio Mane viciously punched Leroy Sane in locker room altercation after humiliating Man city loss

Sadio Mane could not keep his head cool following a humiliating defeat against Manchester City, as he gets banned by Bayern Munich after the Senegalese punched his teammate Leroy Sane.

The Bavarians had a disappointing Tuesday night at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side triumphed over Die Roten in a 3-0 Champions League quarterfinal victory. Following this major setback, Bayern are now on the verge of exiting the European competition.

According to Sky Sports, things became heated in the Bayern Munich dressing room post match. In an argument between Mane and Sane, the former punched the latter, which split Sane’s lip open. Teammates had to intervene and separate the two.

It seems the Senegalese forward was offended by something Sane said to him. Shortly after Erling Haaland made it 3-0 to put the game out of reach, the two players were seen arguing on the field.

Bayern Munich have banned Sadio Mane

The Bavarians have taken action against Sadio Mane. A club statement was released confirming Mane’s punishment, which consists of a fine and a dropout from the squad for Saturday’s Bundesliga clash with Hoffenheim.

The statement reads: “Sadio Mane, 31, will not be in the FC Bayern squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday.”

“The reason is Mane’s misconduct after FC Bayern’s Champions League game at Manchester City. In addition, Mane will receive a fine.”

The situation has made matters worse for Bayern, as they trail by 3 goals going into the second leg of the Champions League. The newly appointed Bayern Munich coach, Thomas Tuchel, now has to come up with a resolution to increase the team’s bonding following the incident.

On Thursday morning, the two were spotted training together, but neither of them appeared to be in a particularly good mood. Sane also made no effort to hide his injured lip.

We’ll find out if Bayern Munich can recover and pull off a miracle to advance to the semifinals on Wednesday, when they host Manchester City in the second leg in Munich.
