Soccer transfer: Lionel Messi, PSG fail to reach agreement in first contract negotiations

Paris Saint Germain has initiated an approach toward the Argentine superstar Lionel Messi’s contract situation in a face-to-face meeting but failed to reach an agreement.

Lionel Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain in August 2021 after leaving Barcelona, the club he had been with for his entire professional career, and achieved so much success in Catalonia.

Messi has six months left on his contract with PSG which will end in June 2023 and the French champions are desperate to tie the player for another two years at least.

However, the little magician is not so keen to sign a new deal with PSG with his intentions are very clear as he will leave the club immediately after the contract expired.

PSG board with Luis Compas held a meeting with the superstar about extending the contract, but the recent World Cup winner disappoint them and remained unmutilated to his words.

Lionel Messi is crucial to PSG’s success in the way they played and Christophe Galtier, the manager of PSG wants Messi to his team after previously admitting it in front of the media.

“There are talks ongoing, our board discussed with Messi about a new contract. I don’t know more. I want him in my team.”- Galtier told earlier during their trip to the Middle East.

“I see Leo very happy here in Paris, so then we will see his position about the club’s project.”- Galtier further added.

Lionel Messi remained focused on the current campaign as a huge task is on his hands when they face Bayern Munich on March 9 after PSG failed to win on their home soil.

PSG hierarchy will be doing their level best to convince the Argentine to stay with their club but what decision will the seven-time Ballon d’Or take remains in a cast of shadow but as of now, nothing is confirmed.
