The Undertaker revealed tearing his pant hours before meeting Vince McMahon for the first time

The Undertaker has been one of the most popular superstars in the history of WWE and has been a massive reason to make the company mainstream. He has a great relationship with Vince McMahon and that was portrayed when he inducted The Undertaker to the Hall of Fame due to his illustrious career and contribution to WWE.

However, it wasn’t always smooth sailing for The Deadman, as he revealed that he had an unfortunate incident before meeting Vince McMahon for the first time. Let’s take a look into the story of how The Deadman came to life under Mr. McMahon.

The Undertaker revealed tearing his pant before Vince McMahon meeting

Before becoming one of the most well-known wrestlers of all time, The Undertaker initially struggled with a less-than-stellar run in WCW, which ultimately made him harbor resentment toward the company for the rest of its short existence. Mark Callaway had a rough start to his wrestling career, and even Vince McMahon initially didn’t see anything special in him. In a video biography about The Undertaker’s career, he revealed that he tore his pants just a few hours before meeting Vince McMahon.

He was staying with Paul Heyman before his meeting with Vince the very next day and had an unfortunate incident. Paul is quoted in the documentary saying, “I had this sports car that was very low. So anytime 6.6ft, 6.7ft how tall Mark is, bent down to get into my sports car.”Taker then said, “I ripped the whole a** out of the seat of my pants. I said I just ripped my pants. (Imitates Paul Heyman) Don’t worry we’ll fix it all about it.” He continued, “We finally get back to Paul’s house at 3-4 in the morning.”

He added, “I’m trying to find a sewing kit, and I had never, at this point of my life, sewed up anything. I put it up back together, we got out to Vince’s house and very conscious to not like turning my back to anybody so that nobody can see the unlike match of the strings coming out of my back of my pants.”

Despite this, the interview went smoothly and Vince was very impressed with Mark Callaway’s character and instantly signed him with the company. Paul Heyman also makes a funny remark in the documentary that he should’ve gone with torn pants to make the meeting a memorable one for Vince.

Vince McMahon came up with The Undertaker gimmick

The Undertaker’s character is one of the most iconic in the entire history of professional wrestling and despite criticism directed towards McMahon’s decisions, he came up with many great innovations throughout his tenure as the CEO of the company for over 3 decades.

Shane McMahon revealed in an interview that it was Vince who came up with The Deadman gimmick after learning about the fact that Paul Bearer was a mortician and then pairing the two together. The mystique and aura surrounding the character were perfect for that era and even the future, as it featured in four different decades, demonstrating his longevity and significant role in the rise of WWE.

He went on to have the well-known WrestleMania streak, multiple world title reigns, and a retirement show with a well-deserved Hall of Fame induction. The Last Ride on WWE Network covers a major portion of his career from Bell to Bell.

Who’ll be the next wrestler to bring the supernatural aura and mystique back to the WWE? Discuss in the comments.
