“Time is running out”: Brazil legend advises Lionel Messi to return Barcelona in emotional speech

Lionel Messi has been advised by former Brazilian soccer superstar Juninho to leave Paris Saint Germain as soon as possible, as “Time is running out”.

Lionel Messi is reportedly now seriously considering leaving from French club Paris Saint Germain. He is currently deciding a move back to his longtime club Barcelona.

Messi has decided to quit PSG this summer, according to French outlet Foot Mercato (via PSG Talk). According to reports, Messi and his family have decided to leave the French city and are unlikely to change their views. Their preferred club is thought to be Barcelona and the player himself decided it after Barcelona contacted him.

Juninho urges Messi to return to Barcelona

Juninho Pernambucano, one of football’s great giants, also known as a great free-kick taker, did not hesitate to share his thoughts on the Argentine’s future.

Speaking in an interview with RMC Sport, the Brazilian said, “Messi has won it all. But time is running out. I think the best thing for him is to return to Barcelona.”

“He should come back, with an emotional speech for the fans and a contract adapted to the situation of the club.”

He also spoke about the €400 million transfer offer by Saudi club Al Hilal, who are the derby rivals of Al Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo currently plays at.

“It would be better for Messi to return to Barcelona than to play the derby against Cristiano Ronaldo, with all due respect to the Saudi League.”

Could Lionel Messi really leave PSG?

Lionel Messi is yet to sign a contract extension with his current club Paris Saint Germain. His previous contract expires this summer. The Argentine WC winning captain and his camp did have a verbal agreement to continue in Paris but the Argentine had a change of heart after winning the World Cup last year.

Due to Financial Fair Play issues, PSG requires Messi to accept a 25% salary cut on his extremely lucrative £25.6 million-a-year deal. Both the GOAT superstar and his agent, father Jorge Messi have rejected this offer.

Messi is also said to want assurances on the manager and players sought by the club this summer. But PSG is unable to placate his reservations. All of this indicates that Messi will leave the French club.

Messi is 'not so extraordinary' since his move to PSG, ex-Chelsea and Arsenal star claims

According to recent rumors, Barcelona is now prepared to implement a squad-wide salary cut. The reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano disclosed that the Catalan giants are prepared to make compromises. But he is unclear by the reported squad salary cut as of now.

Barcelona is reportedly being pressured to bring the La Masia graduate back to Camp Nou. Supporters of the Catalan club are anxious to see the world champion’s return. Barca, on the other hand, must follow financial fair play regulations. This means a lot of restructuring is required to fit Messi into the equation. They are rumored to be ready to offer a deal directly to Messi’s camp in the following days.
