Trick Williams discloses the exact moment when his meteoric rise at NXT started

Trick Williams, a rising star in WWE has been gaining recognition as his career progresses. He made his debut on the October 5 episode of NXT, teaming with Hayes in a fatal four-way elimination tag team match for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

Despite losing the match, it elevated his status as a wrestler with great potential. The 29-year-old wrestler appeared in an interview where he discussed the opportunity to take his career to the next level.

Trick Williams credits Shawn Michaels for meteoric rise

Williams in a recent interview with Graham Matthews of Daily DDT addressed his excitement on Iron Survivor Challenge match at NXT Deadline. Saying that this moment is a great opportunity for his future and his slight nervousness on facing some of the great wrestlers WWE has to offer.

“There’s a lot of muscle in this match,” Trick Williams said. “Usually, I’m the biggest guy, but I might be one of the lightest in there. I’m in there with some studs, man. Some great athletes, some guys with great experience. I’m excited to get in there and compete.”

During NXT Halloween, Havoc Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes battled for the NXT Championship, while the match was underway Trick got assaulted backstage and lost his chance to fight for the NXT title. Since then, Williams has been seeking a chance for a title shot.

When asked who he credits for his rise to fame, he replied that he had a conversation with WWE superstar Shawn Michaels, and it changed his life for the better.

“I can honestly say that since I went to Shawn Michaels’ office and told him that I wanted to be the guy and show him what I could do on my own, it’s really taken off from there,” Trick Williams said. “Every single win and every loss has built me to where I am now.”

“He gave me the opportunities, and I feel like, so far, things are going pretty well. But he’s a straight-shooter,” Williams added on Michaels. “He’ll tell you when you’re performing and when you’re not. It was one of those moments that I took a chance on myself, and he gave me a chance, and I’m grateful for that.”

Throughout 2022 and 2023, Williams accompanied Carmelo Hayes as his bodyguard in most matches and formed the Trick Melo Gang. In August 2023, Williams told Hayes that they needed to part ways so he could become something more and achieve greatness. Since then, he has been on the rise in NXT this year as a solo star, doing his own things at his own pace.

Williams proves his superiority by winning 2023 Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge. Compared to Dragon Lee defeating Dominik Mysterio, Trick faced superstars like Bron Breakker, Josh Briggs, Dijak and Tyler Bate in an Iron Survivor Challenge match.
