Warriors coach Steve Kerr issues chilling warning about 2022-23 NBA championship

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics in six games to claim the 2021–22 NBA title. They were a strong defensive team that prioritized unselfishness and ball movement, so there is no question that they deserved to win the championship.

The Golden State Warriors will probably be among the favorites to win the championship entering the 2022–23 season. They have the ability to repeat, but it’s certainly simpler to say than to actually execute. Moreover, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr recently discussed his team’s chances of winning the title in the upcoming season, saying that they have a “good opportunity” but that it will “be very difficult.”

“Keeping the title at Golden state? it’s going to be very difficult, a lot of great teams in the NBA, and it always require some luck; injuries, one shot goes in or misses. We have a good opportunity but you never know” Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry has previously said that the club has “a lot left in the tank” and that there is still time for them to win a title.

Additionally, they have young players like Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole who can help them extend their championship window. The Golden State Warriors’ chances of winning the title in the future will also depend on how prospects like Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman develop.

“We’ve talked about that. I’ve said it plenty of times, we have a lot left in the tank in terms of what we can do out there on the floor. Bring up the age thing, that’s something to talk about, but it doesn’t really reflect how we approach this playoff journey, our confidence in what we can do going forward.”

The Warriors won their fourth NBA championship in the past eight years less than three months ago. This accomplishment is tremendous, and Kerr and his squad deserve a lot of praise for always performing well. However, Lacob and Guber’s luxury tax payment for the upcoming season would be enormous given that they had to pay more than $170 million in luxury tax for the previous season.

Recently, Lacob voiced his dissatisfaction with the NBA’s luxury tax system, calling it unjust. He thinks the league shouldn’t penalize teams for offering their draft picks huge salaries. The Warriors should be concerned about Lacob’s complaints. The concerns are evidence that the league’s luxury tax scheme is operating as planned, though.
