A San Jose Earthquakes fan created headlines all over the world after performing a unique challenge during halftime in their game against Portland Timbers.
San Jose Earthquakes recently hosted Portland Timbers as part of their MLS league game. The game ended 0-0 with both sides fighting to get a win till the last minute.
Goalkeeper Daniel was on top form making 4 saves including a goalline save to ensure the game did not end in a loss. He was awarded the Man of the Match award as well.
Fan shocks the world with unreal precision
During the halftime break, four fans were given a seemingly impossible challenge. The game was nicknamed Soccer Bocce. They were tasked with kicking the ball from the 18-yard line to the center spot where the kickoff takes place. The one with the ball nearest to the spot will be announced as the winner.
The first two managed to go close to the spot, but the other hit it wide off the mark. But the fourth fan managed to produce a unique piece of skill. He hit the ball with a left foot worthy of even Lionel Messi.
The fan timed his kick precisely as the ball glided neatly onto the center spot, as shown in the video below.
The fan received widespread cheers from the squad who were clearly entertained. Fans on social media were also amazed and expressed their amazement at the unique shot.
San Jose Earthquakes themselves posted the video on their page and asked SportsCenter to consider putting the skill among their Top Ten plays of the month.
One Twitter user wrote, “I nominate this guy for MLS player of the Matchday.”

Another wrote, “I don’t know if people actually realise how insane that is.”
One fan hilariously wrote, “Cancel the Messi deal. MLS has found its next global superstar.”
The challenge was a great initiative by the club, as it gave some extra entertainment to the fans. We could see it more times in the future, and who knows maybe even the European leagues could start this in their half time breaks as well.
San Jose are unbeaten at home since September 2022
The draw against Portland means that San Jose Earthquakes furthered their position in the Western Conference to fourth. With 27 points, they are only two points behind the league leaders St. Louis and LAFC.
They are currently unbeaten in all their home games this season. With six wins and three draws, this is their best home record in a season since 2005.
They last lost at home back in September when LA Galaxy beat them 3-2.
The Earthquakes will now prepare for their next game against Houston Dynamo away on Thursday. San Jose will hope to snatch away a win to maximize their chances of making it to the top position.
