The English international has faced criticism from fans in the past. Now, Ghanaian MP Isaac Adongo has issued an apology to the defender for his previous comments.

Who is Isaac Adongo apologizing to Harry Maguire?

At the start of the season, Harry Maguire was dropped down the pecking order at the Premier League club, making only substitute appearances in Manchester United’s first seven Premier League games under Dutch boss Eric ten Hag. The lack of playing minutes has even led Maguire to explore the possibility of leaving the club.

The 30-year-old center-back was given his first start of the season against Brentford at Old Trafford, and the Red Devils secured a 2-1 victory in that game, thanks to Scott McTominay’s heroics. Maguire, on his way back to the first eleven, earned praise for his efforts in the match.

In his second consecutive start, Eric ten Hag lavished praise on Harry Maguire following his Man of the Match performance in the win over Sheffield United. This certainly helped the English defender earn the trust of both fans and the head coach, marking a redemption for him.

In the midst of it all, Harry Maguire received an apology from Ghanaian Member of Parliament Isaac Adongo, a member of Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC). The MP had made mocking comments about the defender in December of last year, ridiculing him for his own goal while also referencing the vice president’s economic policy flaws.

Maguire accepts apology

While addressing the Parliament on Wednesday, Isaac Adongo issued an apology to Harry Maguire for his derogatory remarks about the defender’s performance in December 2022. He referred to Maguire as a transformational footballer and applauded his recent form.

He stated, “You remember that last year I was very quick to call my big brother, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Harry Maguire. Mr. Speaker, I now apologize to Harry Maguire. Today, Maguire has turned the corner and is a transformational footballer. Maguire is now scoring goals for Manchester United. Mr Speaker, Harry Maguire is now a key player for Manchester United.”

In response, Harry Maguire accepted Adongo’s apology and even extended an invitation to the MP to attend a Manchester United match at Old Trafford.

“MP Issac Adongo apology accepted . See you at Old Trafford soon 🤝😊”, the English international tweeted.
